Sure, they participate in “National Consumer Protection Week” and they're sponsoring "Consumer Protection Month” on Oldies 95.7, but they dedicate all year to informing and protecting consumers. 

Here's a couple our favorite Consumer Protection Tips:

• Don’t apply for a Refund Anticipation Loan thru a tax preparer claiming it’s a great way to get your refund fast. It’s actually a loan with an interest rate as high as 500 percent!

• Make sure your contractor is properly licensed, bonded and insured and be skeptical of contractors who come to your door unsolicited. Get at least 3 written estimates—and don’t automatically choose the lowest bidder.  Also, beware when asked  to pay for the entire job up front. And never pay with cash.
