
These may become a rare commodity for a time as Hostess — the maker of such iconic brands as Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread — has closed up shop, because of a strike by the bakers' union.
Nearly 18,500 people have lost their jobs as the company shuts 33 bakeries and 565 distribution centers nationwide. The bakers’ union represents around 5,000.
The Twinkie and other iconic products might be back as Hostess will move to sell its assets to the highest bidder.
