Soft Iced Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
FOR COOKIES:
1 cup margarine
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
3 1/2 cup flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. almond extract
FOR ICING:
3 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Wax paper
Directions:
FOR COOKIES:
Melt margarine.
Add sugar, eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Mix.
Add flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
Mix until dough forms into a soft ball.
Refrigerate dough for 20 minutes.
Roll out dough and cut with cookie cutter of your choice.
Place cookies on baking sheet.(It is highly recommended to use parchment paper)
Bake for 10-15 minutes(or until desired darkness) in pre-heated 350 degree oven.
Remove cookies from oven.
Let cool on cooling rack until room temperature is reached. Leave cookies on rack.
FOR ICING:
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until lumps are out.
Icing should be at a pourable, but not too thin consistency. You can add a little powdered sugar to thicken, or add a little milk to thin icing to your liking.
Pour frosting over cookies still on cooling rack, with wax paper under to catch icing
drippings. Let dry and Decorate.
FOR SOFT COOKIES:
Place cookies in air-tight container(s) with one slice white bread in each container.
