Santa's Spice Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
3 cups of all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
3/4 tsp salt
Directions:
In a large bowl, measure all 11 ingredients. With a mixer at low speed, beat ingredients until well blended, occasionally scraping bowl with spatula.
Divide dough into thirds; shape each into a ball. Wrap each third with plastic wrap; refrigerate 2 hours or until dough is firm enough to handle.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On lightly floured surface, with floured rolling pin, roll one-third of dough 1/4-1/8 in. thick, keeping remaining dough refrigerated. With floured cookie cutters, cut dough into various shapes. With a pancake turner, carefully place cookies, 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake cookies 8 minutes or until golden. Remove from sheets to cool. Cool thoroughly before decorating. Store in airtight container.
