Norwegian Crowns
Ingredients:
1 lb butter
1 cup sugar
4 cups flour; sifted
1 tsp vanilla
8 hard cooked egg yolks, cooled and grated
Colored sugar for decorating
Directions:
Cream butter. Put egg yolks through sieve or grater. Add to the creamed butter. Mix thoroughly and gradually. Add sugar until well blended.
Add sifted flour. Force dough through cookie press onto cookie sheets. (Grandma insisted upon using star plate #18 with the points outward on her Duo-press for this cookie, but I guess others could be used). Sprinkle with colored sugar.
Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Cookie should stay yellow colored, but will be done when starting to turn golden at edges.
