EGGNOG BARS


Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons rum or brandy flavoring, divided
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 cup dairy eggnog
1 cup chopped candied cherries
1/2 cup chopped almonds
Glaze: 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon flavoring
1-4 teaspoons milk

Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar together. Stir in 1 teaspoon flavoring.

2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.

3. Add dry ingredients alternately with eggnog to creamed mixture.

4. Stir in cherries and nuts.

5. Spread batter in a greased 15-1/2" x 10-1/2" baking pan (large cookie sheet with sides).

6. Bake in a preheated, 350 degree oven, 18-20 minutes.

7. While cookies are baking, mix glaze ingredients, adding enough milk to make glaze pourable. Drizzle over warm cookies. Cool. Cut into bars
